Short answer: Coat the entire rope loop, lift the sticks with the tips close, then open them gradually in an open outdoor space. Gentle airflow can draw the wet film into a larger bubble; abrupt movements often break it.
Start with a complete wet film
Bubble Sticks work by spreading a soap film across the opening between two wooden sticks and their rope. If part of the rope remains dry or twisted, the film has less room to form. Bring the stick tips together before dipping, immerse the whole loop, and lift it without snapping the ropes upward.
Open slowly and give the bubble space
After lifting, raise the sticks and separate them smoothly. Let a light breeze do some of the work. When the air is still, move slowly to create a gentle flow across the opening. You do not need to whip the sticks through the air. Keep people, branches and rough surfaces out of the bubble's path.

Why did the bubble pop?
- The film never formed
- Check that the entire rope loop was dipped, the ropes are not tangled, and the prepared formula follows the pouch instructions.
- It broke as the sticks opened
- Try a slower, smaller opening. Look for a more sheltered spot if the air is gusty.
- The bubble hit something
- Move to a clear space away from sharp plants, walls and crowds.
- It is smaller than expected
- Give the loop more room and use patient movement. Bubble size varies with conditions and technique, even with the same kit.
Keep experimenting. Real bubbles are affected by the moment outdoors, so a photo shows what is possible rather than a guaranteed size for every attempt.
Questions about giant bubbles
Why does my giant bubble pop immediately?
A dry or tangled rope, abrupt opening, gusty air or contact with nearby objects can break the film. Check the loop and try a slower movement in clear space.
Do I need strong wind?
No. Gentle airflow can help. In still air, move slowly to bring air through the rope opening.
Will every bubble be as large as the photographs?
No. The photos show real use, while bubble size changes with outdoor conditions, preparation and technique.
